Alexandria Will Book C, page 161, 1 December 1843
In the Name of God Amen, I, Milton L Tarvin of the County of Campbell, being sick and weak in body, but of sound mind and disposing memory, for which I thank God, and calling to mind the uncertainty of human life and being desirous to dispose of all such worldly estate as it has pleased God to bless me with, I give and bequeath the same in manner following, that is to say:
First, I desire that enough of the perishable part of my estate be immediately sold after my decease, as will satisfy all my just debts and funeral expenses. 2nd; After the payment of my debts and funeral expenses I give my wife Mary A Tarvin all my estate, both real and personal, for and during the time of her remaining a widow and after that to be disposed of according to law. And lastly, I do hereby constitute and appoint my friend James Herndon executor of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all other or former wills or testaments by me here to fore made. In witness whereof I have herein to set my hand and affixed my seal this 17th day of July in the year of our Lord 1843.

A will purporting to be the last will and testament of Milton L Tarvin, deceased, was produced to court and fully proven by the oaths of John C Tarvin and Squire T Bartlow subscribing witnesses thereto which is established and ordered to be recorded. Whereupon James Herndon, the Executor names is said will qualified and together with Elijah Herndon, his security extend into and acknowledged bond in the penalty of $400, conditioned according to law. Whereupon the said will is truly recorded in Will Book C, page 611. Given under my hand the 1st December 1843.
