THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT
Magdalena Dorne (a widow) of Newport Campbell County Kentucky. In the name of the Benevolent Father of all. I the said Magdalena Dorne, being of sound and disposing mind and memory considering the uncertainty of continuance in life and desiring to make such disposition of my worldly Estate as I deem best do make publish and declare this to be my last Will and Testament. Hereby revoking and annulling any and all former Will in Wills whatsoever by me made.
First I desire all my just debts and funeral expenses to be paid as soon as possible after my decease.
Second I give and bequeath absolutely to my two Daughters Lena Stepp and Caroline Roth all my household furniture and effects to be divided equally between them or otherwise disposed of by them at their discretion and as they deem best.
Third To my Daughter Lena Stepp (nee Dorne), I give and bequeath the proceeds of my life Insurance Policy numbered 20409 accounting to One hundred and fifty ($150.00) and written by the Sun Life Insurance Company of America with its Home Office at Louisville, Kentucky.
Fourth To my Daughter Caroline Roth, I give and bequeath the proceeds of my three (3) Life Insurance Policies numbered respectively 2336792, 2604278 and 3907198. Calling for Eighty four ($84.00), Fifty two ($52.00) and Twenty Six ($26.00) dollars respectively and written by the Prudential Insurance Company of America with its Home Office at Newark, New Jersey.
Fifth I do hereby authorize and empower my hereinafter
Executor Peter P. Dorne to sell by private sale on in such manner upon such
terms of credit in otherwise as he may think proper my dwelling house and lot in
Newport Campbell County Kentucky being situate in the North east corner of
Isabella and Ninth Streets and being part of Lots numbered Thirty three (33),
Thirty four (34) and Thirty Five (35) of the Trustees addition to said City of
Newport and fronting thirty (30) feet in Isabella Street and Ninety nine (99)
feet in Ninth Street. And I do hereby authorize and empower him deeds to
purchasers to execute acknowledge and deliver in fee simple and the like power
and authority. I do hereby give and grant to whomsoever in law may be charged
with the execution of this my last Will and Testament.
Sixth I do hereby will and direct after all my just debts are paid and settled
that the proceeds of the sale of my said house and lot be divided into two equal
parts. And I do hereby give devise and bequeath to my Daughter Lena Stepp and
her heirs forever one of said parts, and to my Daughter Caroline Roth and her
heirs the other part in ninety.
Seventh. I give devise and bequeath to my three Children, Peter P. Dorne, Lena Stepp and Caroline Roth their Heirs and assigns forever my lot in Evergreen Cemetery in Campbell County Kentucky. And being lot numbered 75 in section 3 of said Cemetery.
Eighth. To my son George Dorne, I give the sum of One ($1.00) and well bearing in mind the manner in which I have hereby disposed of my property, I do will and direct that the benefit which my said son George takes from my estate be confined and limited to the legacy giben by this the either (8th) Clause of this testament.
I nominate and appoint my son Peter P. Dorne to be the Executor of this Will and Testament.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my brand and seal this Ninth day of February in the years eighteen hundred and Ninety eight.

Signed sealed and acknowledged by Magdalena Dorne as and for her last Will and Testament in our presence and subscribed and attested by us as witnesses in her presence and at her request.

Know all Men by these presents that I Magdalena Dorne being of sound mind and disposing memory do publish and declare this Codicil to my foregoing Will. I here revoke so much of said Will as appoints my son Peter P. Dorne Executor then of and gives him power to sell the real estate in do any other thing about my estate and nominated and appoint in his place and stead my Son-in-law John Roth as Executor thereof ad confer upon all the powers in said Will formerly vested in my Son.
