2d. Lt. William J Zint, 22, of 609 E Third street, Newport, was killed in action on July 30 at Neomforr, New Guinea, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Zint were advised Thursday. Lt. Zint, a radar observer with the Air Forces, had been based in the Southwest Pacific for the last several months and was transferred to the New Guinen theater just recently.
Lt. Zint, a graduate of the Covington Latin School, enlisted in the Air Corps in November 1942. His father, a veteran of World War I and wounded in France, is well known local Legion circles.

William J Zint was killed 30 July 1944 in Papua New Guinea and was buried in the Manila American Cemetery in Manila, Philippines.
