Funeral services for William Tucker, 80, Confederate war veteran, was held from the Vonderhaar & Stetter Funeral Home, Third and Overton Streets, Newport, Saturday, 2 pm. Rev McFarlan of Louisville preached the funeral sermon. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery. Tucker died Thursday afternoon at Speers Hospital after a short illness.
Tucker is one of the few Confederate veterans left in northern Kentucky. After his discharge from the southern army, Tucker settled in Newport where he was employed for years in the Newport Rolling Mill. For the past few years he has been making his home with his daughter, Mrs. Susan Bagby, of 103 Monmouth st. Newport.
In addition to Mrs. Bagby, Tucker is survived by his widow, Mrs. Nancy Tucker, 68, and two other daughters, Mrs. Maude Pohl, of 941 Columbia st. Newport and Mrs. Lee Reeder of 414 Monmouth st. Newport.

Monday for the second time within two weeks a follower of the Stars and Bars, emblem of the Confederate Republic, will be buried in northern Kentucky. William Tucker of 108 Monmouth st. Newport, was the other Confederate to die within the last few days.
