MISSED THE FATHER-William Seal, 10, a lad residing with his parents in Clifton Heights, Newport, fired off his father's double barreled shotgun Tuesday evening at his home. The father narrowly escaped being killed and the lad was unconscious for several hours.
The boy secured the gun and in a playful manner pointed it at the screen door and pulled the trigger. There was a loud report and the shot tore a large hole in the screen and lodged in the mantel. The father was standing inside, near the mantel at the time and was within an ace of being shot. The force of the gun knocked the little fellow on his back an he was unconscious for several hours before physicians could bring him to. Beyond the injuries to the youth and the shot in the mantel, not other damage was done. It created much excitement for awhile.
