Corporal William Lunsford

ARRESTED-Sergt. Kelly of Company L, placed Corporal William Lunsford, of the same company under arrest Saturday afternoon at Ft Thomas, charging him with the theft of $300 worth of gold coin from Private James Ericson last Monday night. Lunsford, in company with Corporal Tobe Cope, entered a saloon on the Midway and tendered a three dollar gold piece for payment for drinks. Cope noticed to unusual denomination of the coin and notified the company commander.

When placed under arrest a two and a half dollar gold piece was found on Lunsford. He claimed he received it from home, but could not explain about the three dollar gold piece. Ericson identified the three dollar gold piece.
