A mysterious shooting was reported to the Newport police Saturday morning in which William Hyle, 15, of 1137 John Street, Newport, got a 21 caliber bullet in the calf of his right leg, fired by an unknown person. Hyle was going to work, accompanied by William Wagoner, 15, of 1120 John Street, about 6:30 am. and was passing the corner of Seventh and Orchard Streets when shot.

Dr. Jenkins probed the wound, but failed to find the bullet. No one was seen during the shooting, nor was any report heard.
