William Franklin and Sarah Ann Grizzell

William Franklin Grizzell was born in Staffordsburg, Kenton County, November 4, 1849, the son of Elam Grizzell and Elizabeth Lipscomb. His parents died when he was young and he and his sister America were raised by their uncle Richard Lipscomb. He was reared and married in his native county and followed merchandising, but in 1891 removed to a large farm, 1 1/2 miles northeast of Alexandria, in Campbell County. For several years he was an extensive fruit grower, but later his efforts were largely directed to to stock raising. He was a republican, an active member of the Baptist Church, and one of the best known Odd Fellows in Kentucky, being a charter member and a past grand of Alexandria Lodge No. 121 and has been a delegate a number of times to the State Grand Lodge. He was also a charter member and a past chancellor commander of Jewel Lodge, Knights of Pythias of Alexander, and has represented this lodge in the Kentucky State Lodge a number of times.
The first wife of William Franklin Grizzell was Sarah Ann Lipscomb, who was born in 1846 in Kenton Co, the daughter of John and Nancy Lipscomb and who died (before 1894) in Kenton County. He married her about 1868 in Independence in Kenton Co Ky. He married his second wife Harriett Rebecca Grizzell in 1895 in Pendleton Co. She was born 4 Oct 1874 near Falmouth KY, the daughter of John Grizzell and Frances Oliver. She died 19 May 1954 in Alexandria. William Franklin Grizzell died 17 Apr 1941 in Alexandria and was buried 19 Apr in the Alexandria Cemetery.
