The funeral of W J Gleeson (sic) of 332 Columbia st. Newport, will take place Wednesday morning. Services will be held at the Church of the Immaculate Conception at 9 am. Burial will take place at St Stephen Cemetery.
Mr. Gleeson was the commercial editor of the Merchant and Manufacturer of Cincinnati for the past 30 years. He was born in Limerick Ireland, in 1844 and came to America in 1861. He located in Davenport Ia. In 1874 he entered the newspaper business. He married Mrs. Sadie Hinkleman, daughter of the late William Collopy of Newport.
On the day of his death last Sunday, two of his children, William and Lillie received their first communion and were confirmed at the Church of the Immaculate Conception. He was a brother of Thomas Gleeson, former publisher of the Daily Commonwealth.
