NEWPORT
Word was received here yesterday of the death of William Fargo,
aged 19, at Brayville, Campbell County, as a result of being struck by lightning
Saturday. he was working in the tobacco field, when the bolt shot out of a clear
sky, killing him instantly.
Witnesses state that there was not a cloud to be seen, and on account of the brightness of the sun, only a few persons saw the lightning flash. The victim was a son of Samuel Fargo, a farmer of Brayville, and was to have pitched a game of ball at Alexandria Sunday afternoon.
