William Douba, 41, of 536 Columbia street, and George Butts, 39 of 236 Lewis street, Newport, were in a serious condition at the same hospital today after they were struck by a hit skip driver as they stepped from their auto on Highway No 42, three miles south of Florence, early yesterday.

Hospital attaches said Mr. Douba suffered a fractured right leg and ribs, internal injuries and face and body cuts. Police said the license number of the auto was obtained by Mrs. Mary Wilson, 1031 Brighton street, Newport, who was in the victim's auto. She ran along the roadway, following the auto until it turned into a nearby drive way.

William Douba, Newport was reported in fair condition. He was injured in the car at the time of the collision with Mrs. Margaret Douba, Mrs. George Butts, Mrs. Peter Wilson.
