William McCleve, 42, a painter, residing at 318 West Southgate street, Newport, died at his home yesterday. There is some cause as to the real reason of death. Some time ago McCleve fell off a scaffold while at work and was badly bruised about the body. He recovered from these injuries and a few days ago a colored man is said to have struck him on the head, causing concussion of the brain. It is said that this latter injury was the cause of death.

DEATH

William McCleve, 42, a painter, residing at 318 West Southgate st. Newport, died at his home yesterday afternoon. There is some question as to the real cause of his death.

Some time ago McCleve fell off a scaffold while at work and was badly bruised about the body. He recovered from these injuries and a few days ago, it is said, a colored man struck him on the head, causing concussion of the brain. It is said that this latter injury caused his death. It is probably that Coroner Digby may order an investigation as to the cause of McCleve's death.
