Shaler Berry Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Southgate, presented Mrs. Neil J Beckman, 22 Fifteenth Street, South Newport, with a memorial certificate at a meeting of the Navy Mother's Club at American Legion Hall, Newport, Friday night.
Her son, William J Beckman, a member of the crew of the destroyer Jacob Jones, was killed in action Feb 28. He was the first Campbell casualty in the present war. Frank Starr, Ft Thomas, representing the veteran's organization made the presentation. Mrs. Beckman is the wife of Charles F Beckman.
