Warrants for the arrest of six members of the National Guard stationed at the Newport Rolling Mill Co. and two civilians, charging them with contributing to the delinquency of several girls under age. When William Abbe and Ollie Powers, patrolmen, went to the offices of the mill company to serve the warrants on the militiamen, thought to be there, they were ordered out by Colonel Dehnert.

William Abbe Newport patrolman, learned Thursday of the death of his brother, John 58, at Marion O. He died following a stroke of paralysis. She is survived by his wife Minnie, and three children. Abbe formerly lived in Newport.

Newport was reported Monday recovering from bruises and cuts about her face and legs which she received Saturday night when struck by an auto at Ninth and York streets, Newport. Cassidy is to be buried Monday in St Joseph Cemetery, following a requiem high mass at 9 am at Immaculate Conception Church.

While they were investigating an auto accident Wednesday night at Fourth and Central, Newport, a sneak thief entered the police cruiser of Fred Schlosser and William Abbe, patrolmen, and stole a watch and a flashlight.

William Abbe, 54, Newport patrolman, died Sunday at his home, 507 Central av. Newport, following an illness of 11 weeks. A heart ailment caused his death. The Newport Life Saving Squad was called but were unable to revive him.

Mr. Abbe who had been a member of the department for the past 14 years, was widely known. He formerly conducted a café at Pearl st. and Broadway, Cincinnati before the advent of prohibition. He leaves a widow, Mrs. Annie Abbe; two sons, William Jr. and Harold; one brother, Fred and a sister Mrs. Lena Blech.

Six fellow officers will act as pallbearers. Funeral arrangements are in charge of the John J Radel Co. Newport.

A squad of 10 patrolmen will act as escort at the funeral of William Abbe, Newport patrolman, while other officers will be pallbearers. The services are to be held Thursday at 8:30 am at the residence, 605 Central av. Followed by a requiem mass at 9 am at Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will be in St Stephen Cemetery.

Lt. Leo Livingston, John Moore, John Dance and Frank Ulrich will be the pallbearers.

The Police and Firemen’s Pension Board reported it had rejected the application of Mrs. William Abbe, widow of Patrolman Abbe for a pension. Mr. Abbe was a member of the police force 10 months less than the 15 years required to make him eligible.
