Joseph Dicken Will

 

Court Order Book 5, page 278, 24 Jan 1848

On motion of Joseph W Dicken, administrator of all and Singular the Goods, shattels and credits of Joseph Dicken is granted unto him whereupon the said Joseph W Dicken, with John J Barker and Simeon Dicken, his Securities executed bond in the penalty of $100.  Conditioned as the law directs and also took the oath required by law

On Motion of Joseph W Dicken, Admr. of Joseph Dicken, deceased, ordered that Wm Conden, John Cherry, D E Froman and John H Nelson, any three of whom being Sworn proceed to view and appraise the personal estate of said decedent and return an inventory thereof to Court.

Court Order Book 5, page 292, 27 Mar 1848

The Nuncupative Will of Joseph Dicken, deceased, was produced in Court and proven by the oaths of E H Dameron and Lot Dicken and ordered to record.

Will of 27 March 1848

Memorandum That on the (blank) day of 184? Joseph Dicken of the County of Campbell being of the sickness whereof he died on the same date at the house of his daughter, Nancy Kercheval in the Habitation where he resided for ten days preceding did make and declare his last will and testament nuncupative in these words of the like substance; that is to say "I give and bequeath unto Nancy Kercheval My pension Money. I wish you to take particular notice to this my last will and testament about this matter."

There words or the like effect the said Joseph Dicken declared in the presence of the subscribers with the intention that the same should be his last will and testament where of he desired them to bear testimony which we reduced to writing this 27 day of March 1848.
