WILLIAM T DANIEL
William T Daniel, son of the late Beverly and Harriet Colvin Daniel, was born March 15, 1878 and departed this life Thursday, Feb 26, 1953, 76 years, 11 months and 11 days. He was a family of five children of whom only one survives, Mrs. Adelaid Bryan of Butler. One sister and two brothers preceded him in death many years. He was united in marriage to Miss Icy Dora Clemons Jan 2, 1895. In the 50th year of their married life, she passed away May 21, 1944. They reared to manhood and womanhood eight children, of whom seven survive, namely, six daughters, Mrs. Florine Hodge and Mrs. Lillie Weckbach of Covington, Mrs. Mae Thornton and Mrs. Marie Baker, both of Campbell County, and Mrs. Leone Deatherage of Erlanger, one son Ernest Daniel of Newport. There are 28 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren.
He was very proud of his great number of grandchildren. He practiced farming all his life until after the death of his companion when he retired from farm life and lived the last few years with his son, Ernest in Newport, but spent each weekend with hi son in law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Alpha Weckbach in Covington. He had a heart condition for many years but kept up remarkably well until the last week when he suffered cardiac failure. He spent much of his time in the fresh air and sunshine and was always so happy to meet and talk with his friends and acquaintances from his native locality.
He was a member of the Jr. OUAM Grants Lick Council No 59. A goodly number of Juniors held services at the funeral home Saturday evening with the following men as leaders: F R Nagle, Wm Adamson, George Hawkins, Harry Darlington and Edw Schafer.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Grants Lick Baptist Church with the Rev Lee Drake in charge assisted by Rev James R Armstrong. Former neighbors and friends served as casket bearers. They were Edw Schafer, Bert Casson, Franklin Wolf, B F Stratman, Charles Brooks and Robert Jett.
Grandchildren carried the great numbers of sprays and baskets of lovely flowers. Song service was led by Mrs. Armstrong pianist, with the choir singing "Now the Day is Over" and "Abide With Me". Thus another life as gone out, another book is closed of one who possessed a jovial disposition and one who will be greatly missed by both relatives and friends.
Funeral directors Smith & Sheanshang carried out all arrangements. Interment took place beside his beloved wife in Oakland Cemetery.
