Named by Judge Odis W Bertelsman to take Mr. Meier's place was Wilbert L Simpson, 33, of 526 Thornton street, Newport. Mr. Simpson is a veteran of World War II and a son in law of the late Gus Utendorfer, former county patrolman and probation officer who was killed several months ago in an auto accident. Also killed was County Police Chief George Benz.
