Cpl. Wilbur G Beard, 26, sonof Mr. and Mrs. George W Beard, of 613 Lexington avenue, Newport, a veteran of the Marshalls campaign and the battle for Tinian, is serving with the Fourth Marines. He has been overseas 14 months and has been in the Marines since August 1942.

SERVICES-The body of Cpl. Wilbur George Beard, who was killed on Iwo Jima Island, Feb 23, 1945, has been returned to northern Kentucky for burial. Cpl. Beard, son of Mr. and Mrs. George W Beard, 615 Lexington avenue, Newport, was a graduate of Newport High School. Services will be held at the John J Radel funeral home, Newport, at 2 pm Friday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
