The White Owl Club entertained with a barbecue Sunday at their headquarters on Front Street in Newport and entertained about 400. There were a number of roasted shoats, besides other good things to eat and drink. The four leading candidates on the Democratic ticket were present and made speeches.
They were: John P Newman, Aubrey Barbour, Hub Schwartz and Brent Spence.

The White Owl Social Club of Newport will give a masque and dress carnival tonight at St George Hall. This is the fourth season of the White Owls and a big attendance is assured. The committee in charge of the affair is L Stapleton, J King, J Lally, Joe Ward, M McClain, Joe Stapleton, Ed Meader, J Sheeran and William King.
