NEWPORT
Peter Jester, a printer employed at the Methodist Book Concern is
in the Newport Jail for trying to "pie" the form of Miss Jessie Wenderoth of
Bellevue.
Jester had been in Wenderoth's saloon drinking and it is claimed he went into the yard in the rear of the saloon and while returning he noticed Miss Wenderoth in the door. He asked her if she was alone, and she replied that she was and he went into her room and tried to assault her.
He bears a good reputation and claims he used no force in the matter. The arrest caused quite a sensation in Bellevue.
