NEWPORT
There has been a call for the Washington Artillery Company, in
command of Captain Ashton to report themselves to Louisville. The members have
signified their willingness to leave and have made their arrangements to leave
tomorrow taking their two beautiful cannons with them.
The Taylor Guards, now in Camp King, have signified a wish to be of the party and they have resolved to join General Anderson immediately, if they are sent for.

The Washington Artillery, Captain Ashton, who have been awaiting orders several days, received them yesterday and this morning will leave for on the Kentucky Central Railroad for Cynthiana, taking with them their two splendid cannons.

This fine company, the pride of Newport, is encamped near Cynthiana Ky. Lieutenant Howe, who has just returned from their camp, reports the corps in good health and all eager for active operations.

The members of the Washington Artillery speak in high terms of the officers of the Thirty-fifth Ohio Regiment, Colonel Vandevier and his associates, whom they met at Cynthiana. Captain Ashton informs us that when they took their departure the citizens of that burg, in a body, returned them a vote of thanks for the protection afforded them while they remained.

The two cannon belonging to the Washington Artillery of Newport, were brought down from Cynthiana on Saturday evening and were taken in charge of yesterday morning by the company.
