The wedding of Miss Mary Louise Michaels, daugher of Mr. Charles Michaels, 709 Washington Avenue, Newport, to Sgt. Warren R Conway of the US Marine Corps, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Crampton, 2413 Alexandria Pike, Southgate, at St John Evangelical Church, Newport, in late June was an event of Sgt. Conways leave after 26 months duty in the South Pacific.
Sgt. Conway, who was in one of the first invasion waves on the Marshall Islands, wears the Presidential Asiatic Pacific and American War citations and medals. He and Miss Michaels, graduates of Newport High School, were bethrothed before he entered the Marine Corps two and a half years ago. At the conclusion of his 30 day leave Sgt. Conway will report to New River NC for further assignment. Besides four months duty in the Marshalls, Sgt. Conway served in defense of the Naval Station at Palmyra for 17 months. He underwent training at San Diego, Calif.
