Services for Walter S Ware, 71, consulting engineer and riverman, who succumbed Monday to a heart attack at his home, 35 Woodland avenue, Ft Thomas, will be held at 2 pm Thursday at the Charles A Smith Sons funeral home, Newport, Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate. Born in Covington, Mr. Ware had lived most of his life in Ft Thomas.

He was a veteran of World War I, having served in France as a major in the Army Engineers. After the war he entered government service and served many years as consulting engineer in construction projects on the Ohio River. Many locks and dams stand as a tribute to his professional skill. At the death of his father, James R Ware, 40 years ago, Mr. Ware and his two brothers, Raymond, now of Ft Thomas, and Menter, of Memphis, became associated in the operation of the J R Ware Sand and Gravel Co. with offices in Covington, Newport and Cincinnati. The firm operated a steamboat with its business.

Mr. Ware retired from active business life a year ago. He was prominent in Masonic circles, holding membership in the Yeatman Lodge, Cincinnati Commandery, Knights Templar, and Syrian Temple, Nobles of the Mystic Shrine, Cincinnati. Besides his brothers, Mr. Ware leaves his wife, Mrs. Jane Morton; a son, Morton and two daughters, Virginia and Betty Ware, all of Ft Thomas.
