DROWNED
Walter Mullin, 10, son of Dennis Mullen (sic) of 342 Isabella st.
Newport, was drowned in the Ohio River backwater just north of the horseshoe at
Taylor Mill bottoms yesterday afternoon. Mullin, with a number of other boys was
swimming when he was seized with cramps. He cried for help, but was unable to
keep above water.
Joseph Kaufman, who resides at 321 Columbia st. recovered the body shortly afterward. It was removed to Costigan & Roll morgue after being viewed by Coroner Digby, who returned a verdict of accidental drowning.
