Walter Clethane, 30, residing at 117 East Front st. Newport, attempted to take his life at Fourth and Columbia sts. Newport, Sunday night by swallowing Paris green. Clethane bought the poison at a nearby drugstore.
Several friends saw him take the poison and they sent for Dr. Bonnay, who brought Clethane around all right. Despondency over the death of Oscar Smith, Saturday, it is stated caused him to attempt his life.
