NEWPORT SALOON

There was a desperate fight at Wagenfield's saloon, at Tenth and Ann streets, Newport Ky. yesterday afternoon, and as a result Ed Troescher, of 1037 York street, that city, is suffering from wounds in the head that will in all probability result fatally.

There are different stories about the fight, which seems to have started as the result of friendly bantering. Beginning in the saloon it continued on the outside until Troescher was struck with some blunt object and fell, striking his head on the curb. He was taken home in a patrol wagon.

Last evening Dr. Thomasson called in Dr. Carothers and the two made a thorough examination. They found Troescher, who is 50 years of age, suffering from a fracture at the base of the brain and also a bad concussion. It was decided to remove him to the Good Samaritan Hospital in this city.

According to the statement of eyewitnesses, Ramsey Schnorr is the man who committed the assault on Troescher. The assault occurred about 4 pm. Last night Police Lieutenant Smith, of Newport swore to a warrant for Schnorr's arrest.
