Valentine John Hartman

Kentucky Post, Saturday, 10 August 1918, page 1

Mrs. John Hartman, 253 Berry av. Bellevue, is very happy these days. A service flag with three starts hanging in the window of the home is the explanation. The stars represent three sons, Rome, Val, and Ray in the service.

Rome, 22 is at a South Carolina training camp. He enlisted. Val, 24, is with the navy and when last heard from was in French waters. And Ray, 28, is with the cavalry. He is stationed in Kansas. The two brothers in the army have one wish in common, to get over to the trenches at a very early date.
