Word has been received here of the safe arrival of Lieutenant Todd Meadows of Washington av. Newport.

Word was received in Newport Monday that Lieutenant Todd Meadows, son of James Meadows and wife of Washington av. is en route to his home from overseas. Lieutenant Meadows was a member of One Hundred and Forty-seventh Infantry and was wounded in the battle of Argonne. Later he received his commission.

Todd Meadows, 25, Covington business man, of 345 Park av. Newport died and Bealy A Meadows, 25, assistant engineer of Newport, 345 Park av. Newport injured. Meadows was killed and his brother injured when an auto in which they were riding collided with a C&O train at Silver Grove Ky. According to Bealy, who was driving, the accident occurred at a point where the railroad tracks and the road run parallel.

They were driving toward Newport when the headlight of the train, approaching in the opposite direction blinded him. He lost control of the auto and it plunged onto the tracks. Engineer was unable to stop the train in time to avoid the collision. Todd Meadows suffered a fractured skull and died almost instantly. Bealy suffered severe laceration about the head.

Todd, who was a member of the firm Meadows & Drew, upholsters, served as a first lieutenant with the American forces in France during the World War. He was wounded in action but had recovered. He was a member of Galbraith Post, American Legion, Cincinnati and the Masons and Odd Fellows.

He is survived by his parents, B F Meadows and wife with whom he lived and three brothers, Bealy and J P of Newport and Stanford of Massachusetts.
