Thomas Griffin and Sarah Jane Thornton
Thomas Griffin Thornton was born 15 Sep 1815 in Caroline Co Virginia, the son of Thomas Griffin Thornton and Ann Harrison Fitzhugh. He married Sarah Jane Thornton, daughter of Henry Thornton & Ann Todd Taylor, 31 May 1837 in Caroline Co Virginia. In 1849 Thomas G Thornton crossed the mountains with his family and a half dozen slaves and settled in Campbell Co where he was engaged in the ice business the remainder of his life. He died 1871 in Newport and was buried in the Newport Cemetery (now Evergreen) in Southgate.
Sarah Jane Thornton was born 10 Feb 1817 in Caroline Co Virginia and died 25 Apr 1905 and was buried in the Evergreen Cemetery.
