Thomas A Lanin and Louis Hoffman, Ft Thomas privates, who escaped
while doing guardhouse terms Thursday, are again at the fort, having been
captures by Private Policemen Crawford and Puls, near Chester Park.
The were caught after they had insulted Miss Alma Bauer, a Chester Park chorus girl. After being locked up in the Chester Park cell they tried to bribe a colored man to get them a crowbar and gun, so they could fight their way to liberty. Sentry Paulett, who disappeared with them, returned to the fort Friday and said that the men overpowered him, took his gun away and made him row them across the river. They tied him, he said and then fled.
