On the
application of Joel Craig by his attorney for a ferry across the Ohio from said
Craig's farm in this county to the opposite side. Ordered that said action
be granted. To which opinion Thomas Kennedy prayed an appeal and one month
is allowed to file his bond with the Clerk of this court and prosecute his appeal
with Washington Berry, his security in the penalty of $500.

Indenture made 5 September 1796 between
Thomas Kennedy, Washington Berry, Henry Brasher, and Nathan Kelly, Gentlemen
Trustees of the town of Newport of the one part and James Smith of Campbell
County of the other part. Trustees for and in consideration of the sum
of 5 pounds paid to James Taylor proprietor of the town of Newport sell in lot
No. 17 in the Town of Newport lying on the Esplanade.

On the motion of
James Kennedy who together with Thomas Kennedy his security entered into and
acknowledged their bond as the Law directs he having heretofore obtained a
license from the County Court of this county to keep a ferry at his landing
opposite Peter Mackers, deceased, between the Little and Big Indian across the
Ohio. He is still permitted to keep said ferry and is allowed the same
ferriages.
On the motion of Thomas Kennedy who produced an attested copy of an order of
Woodford County authorizing him to keep a ferry across the Ohio River just below
the mouth of Licking and thereupon the said Thomas Kennedy together with James
Kennedy his security...he is licensed to keep a ferry across the Ohio it
appearing to the Court that the place where the said ferry was established by
Woodford County is now in this County and being at the time of granting said
ordered in Woodford and he is allowed the same rates as allowed at the
establishment of the ferry.
