NEWPORT
Thomas Jolly, one of the most respected and most widely known
residents of the Highlands, died yesterday evening at his home near the
schoolhouse. The deceased had been ailing for some time. He had passed,
the sixty-fifth milestone in life's journey and an aggravated case of cholera
morbus was the cause of death.
He had lived in the Highlands nearly all his life and was at one time engaged in the dairy business. Later he was Chief of Police of the Highlands and then had charge of the Inverness Country Club grounds. He resigned his position about 10 days ago because of ill health.
He leaves a wife and a married sister.
