State of Kentucky, Campbell County
On November 4th, 1834 in the above named county and
state, the said pensioner being a resident of Newport in the said county and
state, and being the age of 79 years on May 26th last, appeared in
open court and stated and swore that in the beginning of the month of April 1781
he was called out on a two month tour of duty in Somerset County in the state of
Maryland. And he stated that he served in the capacity of a Second Sergeant in
the company under the command of Captain Joseph Cohan. The said pensioner stated
and swore in additon that he had been born in Somerset County in the state of
Maryland on May 26, 1755 and that he had resided in the town of Newport in the
said locality for more than 27 years, and that he was well known to all the old
settlers of that town.

The statement of John Taliaferro was also given at the same time and in the same place as the foregoing. The said deponent stated and swore that the above statement was all true and further that he himself believe it to be the whole truth.

State of Indiana: Marion County
On October 10, 1845, Thomas Wollen appeared in open court and stated and swore that he had been both well and favorable acquainted with the said pensioner, Thomas Harris for more than 40 years and this deponent also stated that he saw the said Thomas Harris married to Nancy Wollen. And that the said Nancy Wollen was the daughter of Edward Woolen of Scott County, and that the marriage took place in Scott County in the State of Kentucky. And that Johnston Woolen was present, and several others were also present, who are all now dead. The said deponent also stated and swore that John Hawkins was the clerk who gave them their license to marry prior to the year 1784. Witnessed by: David Sabine, Henry P Todd
State of Indiana, Marion County: Robert B Duncan, the clerk of the circuit court certifies that Joshua Stevens was an acting Justice of the Peace on October 10, 1811.
