NEWPORT
Two soldiers named Mack Dooley and James Dugan created
considerable disturbance by their disorderly conduct near the corner of York and
Front streets, day before yesterday. They were drunk and used obscene language,
exposed their persons and one of them flourished a huge knife and threatened to
kill anybody who interfered with him.
Constable Thomas Fowler attempted to arrest them, but did not succeed until he called to his aid three or four policemen. The parties were before the Mayor yesterday and after hearing the testimony His Honor fined Dooley $10 including costs and Dugan $7.50.
