The case of Thomas Evans, ex-Constable of Newport, charged by the State with allegedly accepting a bribe to allow a dog fight to take place in the Highlands a year ago, was set for trial today and continued to March 8, owing to the illness of defendant attorney.

Funeral of Thomas J Evans, 80, of 125 E Fifth st. Newport, father of Stuart Evans, president of the Evans Motor Co. Covington, will be held Saturday, 2 pm from his residence in Newport with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Evans died Thursday. He was a Civil War veteran and was well known in northern Kentucky.

Besides Stuart Evans, he is survived by eight children. They are Mrs. S G Moody, Mrs. Paul Plautz, David and Will Evans, all of Newport; Mrs. L Davis and Mrs. Edward Weweller, both of Detroit Mich; Mrs. Stanford Meadows, Farmington Mass. and Mrs. Ray Lochner, Columbus O.

EVANS-Thomas J, beloved husband of the late Matilda Evans (nee Derrick) died Thursday, April 9, 1925 at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. S G Moody, 125 E Fifth st. Newport, aged 81 years. Funeral Saturday April 11. Services at residence at 2 pm. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery.
