Lieut. Col. Thomas Cruse, Chief Quartermaster of the Department of the Lakes, who is inspecting the various posts about the country, made a trip to the target range yesterday and looked over the grounds. Since the introduction of the new improved rifle, the range has not quite been safe to the farmers in the vicinity, who will not sell any of their land, except at prohibitive prices.
