Thomas A Casey, 88, of 314 Sixth av. Dayton, died late Tuesday at his home following a lingering illness. Casey was widely known in Dayton where he had lived more than half a century. He was prominent in church and lodge circles in the city. For more than 25 years Casey had been secretary of Henry Barnes Lodge No 607 F&AM, Dayton. He also had been secretary of the Progressive Building & Loan Association more than 30 years.

Casey had served some time as a Dayton councilman and as president of the Council. He was a Civil War veteran, having served with the Union Army. He was past master of the Kentucky GAR. Casey had been a member of the Dayton Presbyterian Church many years and was active in church work.

He leaves two daughters, Miss Lyda D Casey, Dayton and Mrs. W R Vandiver, Long Island NY, and two sons E L Casey, Cincinnati and A E Casey, Dayton. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:30 pm at the home with Rev J N Ervin, pastor of the Dayton Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Cunningham & Dobbling, Bellevue undertakers are in charge of the funeral.
