Lieut. Wygant has returned to Ft Thomas from Ft Leavenworth, after having enjoyed a two month leave of absence. Captain Langdon of the Third Infantry, who is on leave of absence from his station at Columbus Barracks, was a guest at Ft Thomas Wednesday, en route to Columbus. Captain and Mrs. Smith celebrated the seventh anniversary of their wedding Wednesday night by entertaining the other officers and their wives of the Third Infantry.

The following promotions and appointments were made in the Third Infantry Tuesday: Corporal C Frye, Company D to be Sergeant; Corporal James McCutcheion, Company L and Corporal William Kahle, Company L to be Sergeants; Private Julius C Stolze, Morris Archer and Fred Buorde to be Corporals.

Louis Murphy, who deserted from Company D, Third Infantry, last May, was captured at Ft Snelling Minn. and ordered to be tried for desertion.

The following men who were transferred from the Third Infantry to the Fourteenth Infantry, left for their new stations Monday: Private Nicholas Stern, Company D, Ft Brady Mich. and to Ft Wayne, Privates Bruce H London, Edward J Garland, Schuyler Cundiff, Humphrey T Beck, Perin C Johnson, John R Rodgers, Morris Brown, John G Gearin and Andrew Pickard.

The Third Infantry Orchestra will render a program Tuesday night.

Orders have been received from the Department of the Lakes for the departure of the Third Infantry for St Louis on Monday, April 27. Companies A, B, C, D and I, comprising 29 officers and 300 men, are selected to represent the regiment at the dedication of the exposition on April 30.

When the Third Infantry returned to the United States from the Philippines and the Headquarters and two battalions were ordered to Ft Thomas for station, Company K of the Third Battalion was detached by order of the Department Commander for duty at Columbia Tenn. Arsenal. Recent orders from the same authority direct this company to take station at Ft Thomas. Its proper station where it is relieved by a company of the Sixteenth Infantry.

According to the Army and Navy Journal of Saturday, the Third Infantry is scheduled to leave here for the Philippines in March. The Third will be relieved at Ft Thomas and Columbus by the Twenty-ninth Infantry.

United States troops have been ordered to the Isthmus of Panama. Orders were issued today by the War Department, directing the Third Infantry, stationed at Ft Thomas, Ky. Ft Sheridan Ill. and Columbus O. barracks to prepare immediately for such duty. The soldiers will sail from New York within a few days.

The latest news from Washington, as received at Ft Thomas, is that the Third will leave this post the latter end of May. The authorities have decided the Third shall be at Vancouver Wash. about June 10 and from that point the regiment will embark for Alaska.

The Third Infantry will be relieved from duty in the Department of the Lakes and proceed to San Francisco Cal. in time to be embarked on the transport Crook, scheduled to sail on July 1, 1904, for stations in Alaska.
