Thatcher Family Cemetery
Information comes from the Thatcher family files at the Campbell County Historical Society in Alexandria and Elizabeth Thatcher Klem, a descendant of Daniel Allen Thatcher. This cemetery was located on the Thatcher property known as "High View" along route 27 across from the Campbell County Middle School. Those who remember the cemetery say it was enclosed with a wrought iron fence with a gate to enter; in the center was a monument five feet tall pyramid eighteen inches at the base. The property was sold in 1945 after the last descendant listed in the will of Daniel Allen Thatcher died. The log cabin, which had become a tavern, was destroyed when Route 27 was widened. The cemetery was paved over and now the Four Season Florist in on top of the cemetery. No one seems to know what happened to the headstones. September 30, 2007
