NEWPORT
The School Board met as a Committee of the Whole last evening at
the Ringgold Street School house for the purpose of fixing salaries and
appointments for the ensuing term.
Mrs. R A Dameron was elected as Principal of the Park Avenue School, Miss Kate T Perry of the Arnold Seminary; Miss Hannah Purser of the Bellevue Street; Miss Cornelia Payne of the York Street; Miss Emma Smith of the Harris Street; Miss Emma Bennett and Miss Margie Gilson were place in nomination for additional intermediate teachers.
Miss Maggie Edgar was elected a primary teacher. Miss Amelia Berndt was elected writing teacher. Joseph Lee was elected Principle of the colored school and Miss Zenobia Cox as teacher.
