A new supply of cards has been received in Newport from Washington for the government test for the weighting and measuring of children under 5 years of age. Three centers for the tests have been established at Arnold School, St Stephen School and at the office of the community nurse, Miss Josephine Meyers, in the Colonial Flat Building, Third and Monmouth streets, Newport.
Mothers whose children have not been weighed may take their children to the nearest center. Women will assist in the weighing and measuring: Susan Salt.

Nine registered nurses have volunteers for Red Cross service from Campbell co. Harry Gunkel Jr. director of the recent campaign, announces. Thus Campbell co. again "goes over the top" in a war campaign for Uncle Sam. The quota was eight. These nine signed up:
Minta White, Alexandria; Ruby Pinkerton, Alexandria; Christina Fortlage, Florence Mahatha and Susanna Salt, all of Newport; Katherine Quaing and Olive Soden, Bellevue; Josephine Sullivan and Mary Kreidler, Dayton.

A recruiting office for the enlistment of women between the ages of 19 and 35 in the United States Student Nurse Reserve will be opened Wednesday at the office of the Newport Civic and Industrial Association, 628 Monmouth st. Newport. The recruits may be candidates for either the army nursing school or for a civilian training school.
The office will be in charge of these young women, who are graduate nurses: Miss Susan Salt, Miss Etta Haverkamp, Miss Margaret Kautz and Miss Josephine Meyers. Plans were made to recruit women for the nurse reserve.

The date of Dayton's homecoming celebration has been changed from Sept 27 to Oct 1, the committee announced Monday. The names of the girls who served in France with the Red Cross, either as nurses or canteen workers, will adorn the tablet along with the names of the soldiers.
They are, Anna Pracht, Marie Simon, Delilah Sparks, Josephine Sullivan, Olive Soden, Etta Haverkamp, Susie Salt, Gertrude Buch, Rose Neiser, Eliza K Thomas and Mary Kreidler.

Northern District of Kentucky State Association of Registered Nurses was organized Tuesday night at a meeting at Speers Hospital, of registered nurses of 13 counties. Miss Susan Salt, Speers; Miss Olive Soden, Speers, were named directors.
Purpose of the organization is to stimulate more interest and create new ideas and ideals among registered nurses.

Mrs. Katie J Salt, 74, of 641 Park av. Newport died Thursday at Speers Hospital, Dayton. Mrs. Salt was the widow of Clifford and is survived by one daughter, Miss Susan Salt, a nurse at Speers Hospital.

A daughter, Susan R Salt, is given the bulk of the estate of Mrs. Katherine Justice Salt, Newport. A niece, Mary Dalton is given a hand painted mirror and named executor. Article of household property are left to Carrie and Clifford Salt, relatives. The residue of the estate goes to Susan Salt.
