Victim of Highwaymen
Steve Condit, a carpenter, who lives near Gubser Mill, related a
thrilling tale of highway robbery, of which he was the victim, to the police
yesterday. Condit says that while going to his boarding house early yesterday
morning, he was accosted by two men on John street, between Ninth and Tenth and
when he stopped one of them pinioned his arms to his side, threatening to blow
out his brains if he made any noise, while the other went through his pockets,
lifting $25 and overlooking $100 in his inside pocket.
Because of the darkness he was able to give but a poor description of the footpads.
