Because of the serious illness of Miss Sophia Steinhauer, superintendent of Speers Hospital, the Alumnae Association announces that the dance set for Thursday has been postponed until further notice. Ticket holders will be notified of the new date for the affair.

Miss Sophia Steinhauer, veteran Speers Hospital nurse, died early Thursday at the hospital after a long illness believed brought on by overwork during the January flood of 1937. Superintendent of Speers for 37 years, Miss Steinhauer was beginning her 38th years with that institution at the time of her death. Her home was at 920 York Street, Newport.

She was the founder of the Nurse Training School at Speers, starting that branch of work in 1901. She was a charter member of the Kentucky State Board of Examiners for nurses examinations, serving for the past 24 years.

Miss Steinhauer leaves three sisters, Miss Anna Steinhauer, formerly an employee of Speers Hospital and Miss Minnie Steinhauer, Cincinnati and Mrs. Lena Fender, Covington and a brother Walter B Steinhauer, Dayton. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm Saturday at the Fred A Erschell & Son funeral home, Newport with Rev R N Irvin, pastor of the Dayton Presbyterian Church, officiating.

A dance to be sponsored by the Speers Memorial Hospital Nurses Alumnae Association, scheduled for Thursday night, has been postponed indefinitely.

All graduates of the Speers Memorial Hospital Training School, Dayton, founded by the late Sophia Steinhauer, are to meet at 7:45 pm Friday at the Fred Erschell and Son funeral home, Ft Thomas, to hold services for Miss Steinhauer who died early Thursday. The graduate nurses have been asked to wear full dress nurses uniforms.

Miss Steinhauer, a veteran leader in the nursing field of Northern Kentucky has been active for many years in various statewide nurses activities. Her death Thursday was attributed to an illness contracted from overexposure from work during the 1937 flood.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm Saturday at the Fred Erschell and Son funeral home, Ft Thomas. Burial will be Evergreen Cemetery.
