Pat Rogers

The Covington Journal, Saturday, August 8, 1874

Wednesday morning last, at five o'clock, near Aurora, Ind. the Cincinnati and Louisville Mail-Line steamer, Pat Rogers on her way up, was burned to the water's edge.  The fire was first discovered in some cotton bales.  The boat was valued at $60,000.  Value of cargo not ascertained.  Some ten or twelve lives were lost, among others, it is supposed a young lady of this city.

Mayor BAKER received a dispatch Wednesday from Captain DAVID of the steamer, to the effect that the Covington young lady lost had been visiting some friends at Warsaw, Kentucky, was eighteen or twenty years old, wore a ring with the initials "J N" upon it, had light hair and complexion was very handsome.

We regret to have to add to the list of lost, young Mr. Chas Resinger, of this city, son of Mr. Jackson Resinger, who resides at 623 Bakewell street.
