Judge Berry was requested some weeks ago by relatives of Stanley
Waterworth, a Newport boy who joined the United States Navy five years ago, to
ascertain his standing and whereabouts. Judge Berry wrote to Captain Richardson
Clover of the Flagship Wisconsin, now at Cavite, P I and received
the following reply.
"Hon. A S Berry, Campbell Circuit Court: Newport Ky. My dear Judge, I am in receipt of your letter, undated, regarding Stanley Waterworth, a seaman on board this ship. I find that his record is good and his proficiency marks are excellent. He has been steadily promoted since he has been on board and last June he was made a seaman. He is now under observation and if his conduct is good, he will be further promoted. I am glad to be able to give you so good a report regarding young Waterworth."
