SHOCKING ACCIDENT-CHILD BURNED TO DEATH
On Wednesday afternoon a terribly accident occurred at the residence of Mr. Henry Spring, on Columbia street, which resulted in the death of an interesting little daughter of Mr. Spring, aged about seven years. It appears the child was left alone in house for a few moments and child-like, commenced to play with the fire in the grate, from which its clothes caught fire and was immediately enveloped in flames.
The mother of the child, hearing its agonizing screams, rushed to its assistance, but too late to save its life. The little sufferer was dreadfully burned about the head and face, the skin in many places pealing off and presenting a shocking spectacle. She lingered a few hours in terrible agony, when death released it from its sufferings.
