NEWPORT
The petition for the incorporation of Southgate as a city of the
sixth class has been filed in the Circuit Court and a special meeting of the
citizens of Southgate has been called for next Monday night for the purpose of
selecting five trustees, a Police Judge, Marshal and Assessor.
The committee of three appointed by Chairman Colling has selected the following well-known citizens as a candidates for the position of Trustees and the selection of the five is to be by popular vote on next Monday night at Heidelberg;
Hal Weigele, J Beyland, Goe Young, P Wagonlander, W W White, Thos H Colling, J C Buckley, W J Baker, W LaCount and T B Moore;
For Police Judge, Harry Van Agthoven and Dan Ziegler; for Marshal, Louis Loehr and Jos Jones; for Assessor, F W Knarr and John Todd.
