NEWPORT NEWS
SOLDIERS' AID SOCIETY-At a meeting of the German ladies of Newport,
held on Tuesday evening for the purpose of organizing a Soldiers' Aid Society,
Mrs. Sorg was elected President, Miss Sophia Lang Secretary, Mrs. P Breith
Treasurer.
The following gentlemen were selected to
receive contributions in money or supplies:
First Ward: Peter Breith and Jacob Bold
Second Ward; Charles Koch and Joseph Stump
Third Ward: D Brandt and J F Kramer
Fourth Ward: H Wiese and J Goesaler
Fifth Ward: P Constans and M Blesch
The meeting then adjourned to assemble again at the residence of Dr. Sorg, corner of Columbia and Jefferson at three o'clock on Thursday afternoon. All ladies who have not yet joined are earnestly invited to attend the meeting this evening.

ENTERTAINMENT BY THE LADIES SOLDIERS' AID SOCIETY-The ladies of the Soldiers Aid Society of Newport will give an entertainment for the benefit of the sick and wounded soldiers our our brave army on the evening of Wednesday, May 6, at Oddfellow's Hall. A splendid supper will be prepared and the Garrison Band will be present and discourse delightful music.
Let all come out and aid our ladies in their
noble and patriotic effort to soothe the sufferings of our brave boys in the
field.
