Miss Anna Berry, of Third and York Streets, Newport, leaves shortly for Ft Leavenworth for an extended visit with Major and Mrs. Taggart, who were formerly stationed at Ft Thomas with the Sixth Infantry.

The Sixth Infantry Regiment was formed 11 Jan 1812. Zachary Taylor was a commander of this unit. The regiment participated in the War of 1812, the Mexican-American War (1846-1848), the American Civil War, the Indian Wars (1823-1879) the Spanish American War, Philippine American War (1898-1913), Pancho Villa Expedition (1916-1917), WWI, WWII and Vietnam War.

In 1880, the regiment moved to the Newport Barracks Ky. where it remained until the barracks closed and they moved to Ft Thomas Barracks in 1892. They were called to action again in June 1898, in the Spanish American War. On 1 July 1898, the 6th Regiment took the brunt of the fighting during the charge up San Juan Hill.
