MRS. THORNTON DEAD
Aged Resident of Campbell County Passed away in the Highlands
Mrs. Sarah J Thornton, grandmother of City Attorney James J Thornton, and one of the oldest residents of Campbell County, died late yesterday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J Taylor Williams, in the Highlands. Mrs. Thornton was 89 years of age. Her advanced years and general debility caused death. She had been a resident of Campbell Co since 1849, having been born in Caroline County, Virginia in 1817. Mrs. Thornton's husband was Thos G Thornton, who has been dead several years.
Her children are John H Thornton, H H Thornton
and Mrs. J T Williams. The funeral will take place Thursday afternoon and
the remains will be interred at Evergreen Cemetery.

FOUR GRANDSONS
Bore Remains of Mrs. Sarah Thornton to the Grave
The funeral of Mrs. Sarah Thornton took place yesterday afternoon from the home of her daughter Mrs. J T Willis, (Williams) in the Highlands back of Newport and was largely attended. Four grandsons of the deceased acted as pallbearers.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev J G Bow, former pastor of the First Baptist Church, assisted by Rev Dr. Wray and Rev Dr. Whitehead. The remains were placed in the family lot at Evergreen.
